On
the 19th of September 2000,
a group of enthusiastic participants of the '1st APEC Youth Skills
Camp' set off on their six day trip to Korea. The group consisted
of the seven 'Quick Hut 2000' winning team members along with their
project leaders and mentors.
Given
their brief, each individual projected his/her skills and energy
into the focus of the team project: " to demonstrate cooperative
and productive teamwork from aligned (and supposed unaligned) trades
in design and construction".

The
brief: To
make innovative use of 'ordinary' building materials in creating a STRUCTURE
for the given display space. To involve and include the skills of people
belonging to DIFFERENT CULTURES, TOGETHER with the group's own process,
at the same time. Team response: 'The structure begins as a pile of 'odd'
materials that grow over the week to become something that 'wraps' around
the team working area.
Materials, systems and cultures unite to make a
'multi-cultural' structure.'
