2002 Moree & Port Augusta

In 2002, the original Croc Skills model was adapted to enable more students and local tradespeople to participate in the event. Students spent 15 minutes in each trade area, learning practical skills specific to the job from someone currently working in that area. The trades included:

  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Painting
  • Horticulture
  • Motor Mechanics
  • Electrical
  • Tiling
  • Plastering
  • Welding

Following the event students were also sent a Trades Handbook with more detailed information about each of the trades they had tried, profiles of local apprentices and contact details for local/regional training centres.

2003 Moree, Port Augusta, Thursday Island, Tennant Creek, Derby, Kalgoorlie, Swan Hill

In 2003 Croc Skills events were run at all seven Croc Festivals. Students tried trades and jobs that were particularly relevant to their community. For example, on Thursday Island students were introduced to refrigeration mechanics. In Tennant Creek they undertook film editing. Moree was expanded in 2003 to include a locksmith, agriculture, bobcat and hairdressing category.

2004 and Beyond

Croc Skills continues to be run at Croc Festivals around the country.
