We've updated, revamped and added a whole lot of new information to our Learning Choices website. As well as the latest research and some valuable resources, the site contains information on nearly 2000 programs. It's often been called 'the best kept secret in Australia'.
We've updated, revamped and added a whole lot of new information to our Learning Choices website. As well as the latest research and some valuable resources, the site contains information on nearly 2000 programs. It's often been called 'the best kept secret in Australia'. So now the secret is out! We want every one of the estimated 100,000 young people who might need these programs, and their families, to know where and how to find these programs. It's also a great resource for educators and researchers.
Between April and June in 2012, Dusseldorp Skills Forum conducted a national survey to gauge the scale and range of alternative learning programs across Australia. The data has been compiled and Roger Holdsworth from the Australian Youth Research Centre at the University of Melbourne, has provided and analysis and some commentary on the findings.
Whilst we're not claiming that we've identified every program, it has certainly given us an insight into some of the challenges and issues these programs are facing. It's also provided us with some concrete evidence of the number of young people involved - approximately 60,000 across Australia.
