Start 2011
Dusseldorp Skills Forum is delighted to be partnering with How Big Are Your Dreams? a creative and proven program that has been working with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Sydney since 2009.
Over a school year, 15-20 students, supported by four youth arts workers and a program leader, participate in monthly retreats where young people are offered the opportunity to participate in filmmaking, photography, scriptwriting, music making, performance as a means of exploring Indigenous identities, storytelling, creative self-expression and concepts of making change. The program aims to increase school retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in urban settings, to grow and to support the students’ aspirations, and to create stronger pathways to higher education and training.
What is DSF’s partnering role?
DSF are working with the team leadership to develop their mentoring protocol and training program which will be key to expanding their impact and providing year round support to participants in How Big Are Your Dreams?
