This is one of The Island’s longest running and most popular workshops and has provided the motor trades with many job-ready employees. Customers are able to book their vehicles in for repairs or service under the supervision of the senior mechanic. Customers pay the cost of parts used and add a donation for labour. Students moving through the automotive technology workshop have been successful in gaining apprenticeships in panel beating, automotive and engineering businesses. It is not unusual to see a Police vehicle being tuned or a member of staff’s car on a hoist. An Island student can obtain a VCAL qualification from this workshop as well as a Certificate II in Automotive Technology.
