As part of their Professional Experience program, all students in the Secondary
Bachelor of Teaching course at the University are required to complete PE3 – a
60 hour Professional Experience in a non-traditional learning environment.
The University student-teachers can participate in the Learning Choices >>Next
Generation project for their PE3. The University student-teachers will develop
structured projects to work on with the students.
The projects the student-teachers work on with the students could be anything
from graphic design and t-shirt printing, making a short film or radio piece,
building a bookshelf – as long as it is of interest to the students, and
preferably hands-on and practical.
Approximately 20 hours will be spent in preparation, background research and evaluation
at the completion of the project, and 40 hours will be spent completing the project.
Student-teachers can work on their own or in groups of two, in which case the
requirement is 80 hours instead of 60.
