**Organising group for IDEC conference 2006**

3 on 3 basketball comp and fundraiser
Program Name : Blacktown Youth College
We want to run a 3 on 3 basketball comp which would raise money for a special project for the kids. The school has a very good basketball court already and a kitchen close by. We organised this last year but not one single person came. The local youth worker told me it was essential to get the local basketball clubs involved to get anyone to show up and that you had to go to their meeetings before they took you seriously, even for a fun game, so the student-teacher must be prepared to attend a couple of night time meetings of basketball clubs.

Business Plan for the school
Program Name : Blacktown Youth College
We want to set up a small business that would employ our kids and be an enjoyable way for them to earn some part time money. A mobile beauty salon or something to do with fixing cars or sorting out old wrecks and giving the parts to wreckers are ideas we have discused, but we are open to any ideas. We do not have a lot of money to invest and the business would have to be done during school hours. So we need students to do a business plan working out exactly what would suit us best. This will be hard as some of our kids have broken the law and are not always hughely motivated, but we think it is worth a try.
