Still having problems with saving a file?
Note: When downloading Microsoft Word documents some characters may not appear correctly as you may not have the fonts used to create the document. To view/print the correct version we recommend you download the PDF version instead. Note:
You
need Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or above to view PDF files.
Q. What is the difference between viewing and saving [PDF] files? A. In short, viewing files opens them directly in your web browser or associated program without storing a copy on your computer. Saving files stores a copy of the file on your computer. Once saved you can then open the file in Microsoft Word (if it has ".doc" on the end of the filename) or Acrobat reader (if it has ".pdf" on the end of the filename). Please note that have the option of both viewing online and saving only with Acrobat files - Word and Powerpoint files must be saved onto your computer (that is, downloaded) before you can read them. A. Simply click on the link provided. A dialog box may appear that asks if you would like to 'Open this file from its current location' or 'Save this file to disk'. Select 'Open this file from its current location' and click 'OK'. The document will now open directly in your browser or associated viewer program. Bear in mind that for large documents it may take some time for the document to display. There may also be no visible indication of the progress of opening the document. A. There may be some variations to this depending on the type of computer, operating system and web browser you are using. For PC users - right click on the download link so that a menu appears. For Mac users - press and hold down the mouse button to see the menu. From the menu select 'Save Target As' or 'Save Link As'. A dialog box will appear that allows you to select the location on your computer that you would like to save the file. Select an appropriate location and then click 'OK'. The download dialog box will now appear. This provides you with information about how long the download will take and indicates the download progress. Once the download is complete you should go to the location on your computer that you saved the file to and double click on it to open. Sometimes the document will not open when you double click it. If this happens, try to open the document from within Acrobat Reader - that is: open the Acrobat Reader program first, and then choose Open in the File menu, and select the pdf file you wish to open.
