Start 2007 - Finish 2008

Dott 07 (Designs of the Times 2007) is a joint initiative of the Design Council UK and ONE North East (Regional Development Corporation). Dott 07 used the design process as a tool to develop sustainable solutions to local issues. Dott 07’s Eco Design Challenge asked Year 8 students across North East England two questions: ‘How big is your school’s ecological footprint?’ and ‘What design steps would make it smaller?’

Start 2007 - Finish 2007

In the lead up to the 2007 Federal Election the DSF joined forces with Vibewire to bring you electionTracker 2007. DSF sponsored four young reporters to be part of the official press pack travelling with John Howard and Kevin Rudd as they criss-crossed the country in the final two weeks of their election campaigns. Helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to address the challenge of sustainability in the workplace. DSF’s new mentorship program targets recently retired workers in order to create a network of experienced professionals who can consult SMEs on how to adapt their businesses to meet the sustainability challenge.

In November 2007, 3 Aussies, sponsored by DSF, will head to Shizuoka, Japan for the competition of their lifetime. Up against 8 other skilled teams from all over the globe, Joshua Morsillo, Samuel Pop and Matthew Nunn will draw on their training, practical experience and team skills to develop the most accurate and cost-effective project in the 2007 WorldSkills International Manufacturing Team Challenge.

Building on the success of Green Team 2008 the WorldSkills Australia National Skills competition was again home to the Green Team!  Student volunteers from event management teamed up with students from university environmental courses to find out how sustainable are the categories at a WorldSkills competition.Under the guidance of the lead auditor, ARUP, the Green Team conducted interviews with each of the skill areas and gathered data that became part of the Environmental Audit report, and established benchmarks & recommendations for improvement.
