One of the key ways DSF achieves it's aims is to work in partnership with other organisations, initiating practical projects that respond to some of the issues identified through our research. Here you will find the projects that DSF is currently involved with. We have also included some past projects that we believe might still be of interest.

Based on recent and ongoing research and experience around the world Sefton-Green talked about competing definitions of what 'creative learning' might mean, how it has been recognised, evaluated and described, how it has been imagined and  implemented in practice, and how ideas of creative learning are present in studies of learning outside the school.

DSF is excited to be partnering with the Sydney Story Factory - a new initiative that aims to kindle the spark of creativity in every child and nurture the next generation of storytellers. Situated behind the Martian Embassy and Gift Shop in Redfern, The Sydney Story Factory is a fantastical place where the imagination is set loose and children get free help to write stories of all kinds.

The WorldSkills Foundation (WSF) was launched in Madrid, Spain in 2011 and is the research, advocacy and education arm of WorldSkills International. Its purpose is to complement the WorldSkills Competition. In this way the Foundation aims to achieve its shared mission with WorldSkills International to promote skills across the world.

Biannual

A partnership project between Dusseldorp Skills Forum, the MacDonald family and WorldSkills Australia. The Ern MacDonald Fellowship, in memory of a great industrial relations visionary, launches the careers of talented young tradespeople and is supported by project partners, the MacDonald family, Dusseldorp Skills Forum and WorldSkills Australia.

Start 2012 - Finish 2012

DSF partnered with NISEP to bring down Arnhem Land Elders and members to speak and run workshops at the National Science Week, held at the Australian Museum and the Redfern Community Centre, August 10- 12, 2012.  The representatives from Arnhem Land especially focussed on the integration of Indigenous and Western approaches to science.

In an effort to address challenges around environmental skills and sustainability, Dusseldorp Skills Forum and WorldSkills Australia worked together on an innovative project during the 2008 WorldSkills Australia National Competition - the Green Team!

Start 2012 - Finish 2012

The WorldSkills Australia National Competition hosted the inaugural Plumbing Team Challenge at Sydney Olympic Park.  This event tested and showcased the skills and talent of young Indigenous plumbers from parts of remote and rural Australia over a 3 day competition.

DSF is supporting the establishment of a National Network which will focus on the training and development needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander early childhood workforce.

Start 2011 - Finish 2011

Koori Job Ready run an eight-week intensive course in construction and hospitality for Aboriginal people in Darlington near Redfern. Beyond training, they negotiate jobs, traineeships and apprenticeships for their graduates and mentor them while they transition into the world of employment.
