Schools, community agencies and employers work in partnership to support young people to engage with their community and take increasing responsibility for their learning. An important action of the Making the Connections Strategy is the establishment of four Innovative Community Action Networks – or ICANs. They will become a vehicle to bring together young people, families, schools, community groups, businesses and different levels of Government to find local solutions to local issues preventing young people from successfully completing their education. ICANs will focus on young people who are between 12 and 18 years of age who are at risk of not completing their schooling.
