Social Inclusion Initiative

The SA Government’s Making the Connections Strategy considers ways young people and their families, schools, government agencies and communities can work together on the issues that cause many young people to become disconnected from education and from the pathway forward.

An important action of the Making the Connections Strategy is the establishment of four Innovative Community Action Networks – or ICANs. They will become a vehicle to bring together young people, families, schools, community groups, businesses and different levels of Government to find local solutions to local issues preventing young people from successfully completing their education. ICANs will focus on young people who are between 12 and 18 years of age who are at risk of not completing their schooling.
